Goodbye and Hello

The sixth track of Goodbye and Hello features the harmonica of the folk musician and rock photographer Henry Diltz. The lyric is an homage to Fred Neil's song The Dolphins and is sung by a former lover who wonders whether the person addressed ever reflects on the experience in the same way. Trouser Press named it among the songs showing Buckley growing and finding a highly personal vision.

Buckley closed his 1968 London concert with a 4:29 version, released on Dream Letter: Live in London 1968, and it appears in 8 of the 36 logged setlists that list songs. His son Jeff recorded it for a tribute concert in 1991 and said it was the first time he heard his father's voice. Gregg Allman also covered it. It was used in the film Coming Home, in the 1969 film Changes and in Greetings from Tim Buckley.
