It Goes On

It announced It Goes On in May 2026 and opens the album. Loren Humphrey produced it at Greenmount Studios in Leeds. The band modelled the recording on a live version of The Velvet Underground's What Goes On, a song they have also covered on stage. Anson O'Connell said they loved how it felt to play but had doubted they could record it that way. Murphy described the idea as taking a mad 1970s rock sound and having it played by a bunch of scrawny kids, and said the point was as much how they made it as the words.

The video was shot with FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park during a home game against Hyde United, with the club's players, volunteers and supporters. Haycocks said the club is community-minded with the kind of atmosphere the band wants to have. Beats Per Minute heard the song as rooted in grassroots football and compared its tightness to the first Ought record. Rolling Stone UK described looping, whirring guitars that grow into a wall of noise, and NME praised its momentum.

Live

The band played it long before it was released. setlist.fm logs 99 performances, the first at The Social in London on 29 January 2025, one of the industry shows that led to the Island deal. It opened the set at Music Hall of Williamsburg in October 2026.
