Good Name

Two long songs, one a side: a plea for love and a declaration that money cannot buy a good name.
William Onyeabor, 1983

Released
1983
Label
Wilfilms Records (WLP 030)
Producer
William Onyeabor

Good Name has just two tracks, Let's Fall in Love on the first side and Good Name on the second. In his own liner note Onyeabor wrote that the first side preaches love as the surest way to peace, harmony and happiness, and that the second reaffirms the importance of a good name, which he said is better than silver and gold. He is credited as composer, writer, arranger and producer.

Andy Beta heard squelches and throbs driving Let's Fall in Love, with God and love as Onyeabor's foremost inspirations. On Good Name he heard searing guitars and skittering drum machines as Onyeabor sings that no money can buy a good name. Both songs were chosen for Who Is William Onyeabor? in 2013.
