I'm a Cuckoo

I'm a Cuckoo was the second single from Dear Catastrophe Waitress, produced by Trevor Horn and released on 16 February 2004. It did better on the UK singles chart than the first single, reaching 14. It is the only Belle and Sebastian song to chart in Spain, where it reached 19, and it reached 59 in Sweden. An AllMusic reviewer described it as the indie pop version of Thin Lizzy, who are mentioned in the lyrics.

The video features the Scottish Olympic 100 metres gold medallist Allan Wells as a running coach, with Murdoch as an aspiring runner. The single's B-side Stop, Look and Listen runs into the instrumental Passion Fruit, and the release also carried a remix by the Avalanches and (I Believe In) Travellin' Light.
