Step into My Office, Baby

Released in 2003 as the band's first single for Rough Trade, it was produced by Trevor Horn and opens Dear Catastrophe Waitress. It was also the first single the band took from an album. The cover shows Bobby Kildea with Roxanne Clifford, later of Veronica Falls, and Hannah Robinson. It reached 32 on the UK singles chart and 80 in the Netherlands, and came in at number 64 in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 for 2003. The CD single carried Love on the March, which the band recorded with Darren Allison, a producer for the Divine Comedy.

Spin wrote that the song swaggers into the party in a Hermits T-shirt, with British-invasion guitar twang and Swingin' Sixties orchestral charts. It was shortlisted for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song.
