Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue)

The third album, recorded in two weeks with Mike Dean under the name Redcar.
Christine and the Queens, 2022

Released
11 November 2022
Label
Because Music
Producer
Christine and the Queens, Mike Dean

The producer Mike Dean contacted Christine and the Queens in 2021 and suggested they collaborate, and the work in Los Angeles with Dean produced an album recorded in two weeks. It was described as a rock opera, and the name Redcar was adopted after red cars were repeatedly seen in Los Angeles in 2020. The release was moved from 28 September to 11 November 2022 after an injury during rehearsals. The singles were Je te vois enfin, Rien dire and La chanson du chevalier. Two Paris shows at the Cirque d'hiver and a London date at the Royal Festival Hall on 22 November followed.

Metacritic gave it 71 from 17 reviews. El Hunt of NME called it the darkest work musically from Christine and the Queens, Kory Grow of Rolling Stone an avant-garde pop opera, and Sophie Kemp of Pitchfork a transitional album. It reached number 22 in Wallonia, 36 in France and 45 in the UK.
