Towa Tei left the band before Dewdrops in the Garden but is credited with production on Call Me and three other tracks. Kier had offered him the chance to remix a song of his choice so that he would have a presence on the record. Pitchfork notes that the track works the bleepy sound of landline dial tones into the music.

Call Me and Bring Me Your Love were the band's last two number ones on the Hot Dance Music Club Play chart, and the Japanese companion release Dewdrops in the Remix carried six mixes of Call Me. Pitchfork's Rich Juzwiak wrote in 2025 that time-blindness lets it sound at home in a contemporary set. A Method One remix of the song is on Sampladelic Relics and Dancefloor Oddities.
