Goin' Back was a non-album single, released in the UK on Philips on July 1, 1966, with I'm Gonna Leave You on the B-side. Gerry Goffin and Carole King wrote it. It was recorded on June 15, 1966 at Philips Studios in Stanhope Place, London, with Johnny Franz producing and Peter Knight providing the musical accompaniment; no fuller personnel was found. The single came between You Don't Have to Say You Love Me and All I See Is You, and reached number 10 in the UK, number 9 in Australia, number 15 in New Zealand and number 6 in Singapore. It was not released as a US single, and the catalogue number was not verified.

Goldie, Genya Ravan of Goldie and the Gingerbreads, recorded it first, but that version was withdrawn after disagreements with Goffin and King over the lyrics. King considered recording it herself and offered it to Dusty instead. Wikipedia describes the song as about the loss of innocence that comes with adulthood and an attempt to recapture it; no statement from Goffin, King or Springfield on its meaning was found.

Other versions

Carole King recorded it on Writer in 1970 and on Pearls in 1980. The Byrds released it on October 20, 1967 with Change Is Now on the B-side, reaching number 89 on the Hot 100; it is also on The Notorious Byrd Brothers, produced by Gary Usher. The New Seekers recorded it in 1973, Freddie Mercury as Larry Lurex that year, and Nils Lofgren closed his 1975 debut solo album with it. Dusty's version is on Goin' Back: The Very Best of Dusty Springfield (1994), Greatest Hits, Songbooks, Complete A and B-sides 1963 to 1970 and Live at the BBC, which has a BBC version.

The upload on hypersongs is from the auto-generated Dusty Springfield - Topic channel, so it is presumably the 1966 single recording, though the page does not say which release supplied it.
