Mon amie la rose
Her first record made in London, with the Charles Blackwell Orchestra.
Françoise Hardy, 1964
Vogue agreed to send her to London to work with Blackwell, described as a protégé of Joe Meek. Light in the Attic quotes Hardy saying it was hard to persuade the record company to go, and Blackwell calling her very much a perfectionist. Mickey Baker plays on "Pourtant tu m'aimes", the only track recorded in Paris. Record Mirror gave it five stars in February 1965, and Chuck Foster at The Big Takeover wrote in 2015 that it was the first pure statement from a singer who fought for artistic integrity and won. Light in the Attic reissued it in 2015 with the original mono mixes.
