Two Sides to Every Story, released in February 1977 on RSO, was Clark's first album since No Other. Thomas Jefferson Kaye produced again. Among the songs are In the Pines (a traditional song), Kansas City Southern and Hear the Wind, both by Clark, and Give My Love to Marie by James Talley. The guests include Jeff Baxter, Emmylou Harris, Byron Berline, Al Perkins and John Hartford.
Some six weeks before his death Clark told an interviewer that he considered it his best album, rivalled only by No Other. Hal Horowitz of American Songwriter called it a low key yet delightfully straightforward set that even rocks out occasionally. High Moon Records reissued it on vinyl in early 2013.
