Shapeshifter

Shapeshifter, from 1992, was the ninth studio album under the Gong name and the first proper album from Allen's Gong since You in 1974. It was the first without Gilli Smyth. Didier Malherbe, Pip Pyle and Allen were the only returning performers from earlier Gong albums. Its main character is Zero the Hero, and the album continues the Gong mythology whose central part is the Radio Gnome trilogy. The tracklist differs between releases: the 1996 Viceroy and 1997 Lightyear editions drop two tracks and add a closing live Goddess Invocation Om Riff, recorded at Ynys Witren at the 1992 summer solstice.
