Years to Burn is the second album by Calexico and Iron & Wine, after the 2005 EP In the Reins. Joey Burns, John Convertino, Matt Ross-Spang and Beam produced it, with Ross-Spang and Rachel Moore engineering.
Pitchfork's Stephen M. Deusner wrote that it took the two acts more than a decade to align their schedules. He described The Bitter Suite as a musical triptych that opens with Calexico's trumpeter Jacob Valenzuela singing a Spanish-language overture based on Beam's lyrics, and said Calexico give Father Mountain a kind of pop stomp. The album was nominated for the Grammy for Best Americana Album, and Father Mountain for Best American Roots Performance, both for 2020.
