In the summer of 1971, after Garra, Valle retreated with friends to the fishing village of Búzios and composed Vento Sul. For it he dropped studio musicians in favor of the Brazilian progressive rock band O Terço. He said he wanted to try out a rock influence and risk a little more.

The result is dreamy and psychedelic. The vocal harmonies on Vôo Cego recall Crosby, Stills and Nash, and the song was written by the guitarist Cláudio Guimarães, who is not a member of O Terço. Democústico was meant to be an instrumental until Valle added a recitation that puts the prefix demo- on all sorts of words. Mi Hermoza starts as a flamenco-tinged meditation and then breaks into a hard-rock riff. Newcity called it one of his worst-selling albums on release. Light in the Attic reissued it in 2013, with the bonus track O Beato on the CD.
