Vontade de Rever Você came out on Som Livre in 1981 as catalog 403.6224, produced by Marcos Valle, Paulo Sérgio Valle and Ribeiro Francisco. Leon Ware co-wrote five of the eight songs with Valle and Paulo Sérgio, and Peter Cetera and Laudir de Oliveira are credited alongside them on A Paraíba Não É Chicago and Sei Lá. It was partly recorded with Chicago: the credits list Cetera on bass, Daniel Seraphine on drums, Walter Parazaider on saxophone and James Pankow on trombone, alongside Airto Moreira, Sivuca, Oberdan Magalhães and José Roberto Bertrami.
John Bush of AllMusic called it an excellent example of boogie-funk samba. The Far Out writers at The Vinyl Factory heard Valle stepping into the 1980s with full boogie funk, and noted echoes of Leon Ware's album Rocking You Eternally from the same year on Velhos Surfistas Querendo Voar.
