Dreaming with Alice
The title song, which recurs on the album as short verses; Fry remade it in 2009.
Mark Fry, from Dreaming with Alice (1972)
Head Heritage describes the fragments as opening and closing the album: the first over circular acoustic guitar, later ones linking biblical imagery to Alice and equating Salome with the Red Queen, and the last looping a guitar riff under a reverberating voice. The song was remade in 2009 with Nick Franglen as a limited vinyl single on Fruits de Mer (Volume 5, with a live "The Witch"), and that version is also on Plankton (Record Collector, 2013). Setlist.fm lists it five times in 27 of his performances, his most played song. Which of the three, the original, the remake or a live take, our upload is has not been determined.
