Champagne Supernova closes (What's the Story) Morning Glory? and features Paul Weller as guest guitarist and backing vocalist. It was released as a single in Australia and New Zealand on 13 May 1996, and Nigel Dick directed the video at Ealing Studios on 15 and 16 February 1996. Noel Gallagher described it as probably as psychedelic as he will ever get. He has said that he does not know what it means and that it means something different to each listener, and that he has no clue about some of its lines. It reached number one on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Paul Arthurs recalled hearing Noel play it all the way through on the tour bus on acoustic guitar. The Guardian's Alexis Petridis called it the band's greatest song. NME named it the fourth-greatest Oasis song and Rolling Stone the seventh. On the tours of 1995 to 1998 the ending was usually stretched by about five minutes with a long improvised solo. Oasis played it at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, and it was the last original song they performed live together in August 2009.
