Going Blank Again

Leave Them All Behind opens Going Blank Again and runs 8:17. All the songs on the album are credited to the four members. It came out as the lead single on 10 February 1992, and Ian Cohen of Pitchfork wrote that the band insisted on that choice. It reached 9 on the UK singles chart, which made it their first top 10 hit and the biggest of their career.

Cohen described the start as a reverberating Hammond organ and an extremely punchy drum break from Loz Colbert, which pointed to the Who on one side and to breakbeats and funk entering British rock on the other. He thought it as close to a mission statement as a band with such nonsense lyrics would give, and added that it is not shoegaze in the sense of obscuring or obliterating, because every part of it is voluminous but not oppressive. NME later ranked it 273rd in its list of the 500 greatest songs.
