Peace Sign opens Interplay and was released as its lead single on 11 January 2024, the day the album was announced. The writing is credited to Andy Bell and Ride.

Bell told NME that he brought the song into the studio and finished it with a reference to The Alpinist, a Netflix documentary about the free climber Marc-Andre Leclerc, which the band watched during their downtime. The scene he used shows Leclerc at a friend's house waiting for the right weather, then preparing for an extremely dangerous climb, and the lyric speaks of a window and not waiting. Gardener added that he could not think of a better thing to be singing about right now than the peace sign. Pitchfork heard in it a filtered fusion of French touch and shoegaze.
