Tyler, Perry and Taylor Rhodes wrote it, and Geffen released it on 29 June 1993 as the third single from Get a Grip. Tyler said of the song, "It was country, we just Aerosmith'd it." It reached number 12 on the Hot 100, went gold in the United States and was one of the band's biggest hits in Europe, reaching number one in Norway and number 17 in the United Kingdom. Robert Christgau called it the classic on the album.
Marty Callner directed the video, in which the band plays in a church in Fall River, Massachusetts, while Alicia Silverstone plays a teenager who has a falling out with her boyfriend, played by Stephen Dorff. It was the most requested video on MTV in 1993 and won the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards for Video of the Year, Viewer's Choice and Best Group Video.
