Love in an Elevator

Perry and Tyler wrote it, and Bruce Fairbairn produced it at Little Mountain in Vancouver. It was the first single from Pump, released on 15 August 1989 and in the United Kingdom on 28 August. The album version is 5:39 and the single is 3:38. It reached number 5 on the Hot 100, number 13 in the United Kingdom and in Canada, and went Gold. It was the band's first number one on the Mainstream and Album Rock chart. Tyler has said it was based on a real make-out session in an elevator. Marty Callner directed the video at Bullocks Wilshire in Los Angeles. The song was nominated for a 1990 Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance and lost to Living Colour.
