Azymuth recorded the album at Estúdios Hawai Phonogram in Rio between October 1974 and February 1975 and produced it themselves, with Ary Carvalhaes, Luigi Hoffer and Luis Cláudio Coutinho as sound engineers. Bertrami's keyboards included a Fender electric piano, a Hammond M.102 organ and Arp 2600, Moog Satellite and Arp Strings synthesizers, while Malheiros played basses by Rickenbacker, Vox and Eco. Contesini added congas, cuica and tamborim, and the guitarist João América and the singer Marcio Lott also appear. Artwork and layout were by Flavio D'Alincourt.
Most of the writing is credited to the band as a whole, among them Melô dos Dois Bicudos, Brazil and Periscópio, while Bertrami wrote Faça de Conta and Montreal City. Reviewing the Far Out reissue in 2015, Alexander De Lacey of Sounds and Colours said Melô dos Dois Bicudos had "a hook to die for" and called the record "a remarkably accomplished work" for a debut.
