Beck wrote it and Nigel Godrich produced it, at Ocean Way and Record One in 2002. uDiscover describes it as the acoustic opener of Sea Change, and a music video was released for it. Setlist.fm logs 385 performances. The Guardian ranked it 15th among Beck's songs and said it was written amid his split from Leigh Limon, with the weight of the world in the lyrics worn lightly against Godrich's crystalline production.
