Björk wrote it and co-produced it with Nellee Hooper. It pairs a house beat with a string section conducted by Eumir Deodato. The lyric has her living at the top of a mountain and walking to a cliff at sunrise to throw objects over the edge while she thinks about her own suicide, a ritual that lets her get rid of darker thoughts before she returns to her partner. She said that throwing car parts from a cliff was about getting her frustrations out, and in another interview that the song is about a relationship going well in which you may have given up parts of yourself.
It was the fourth single from Post, released on 12 February 1996, and reached number eight in the UK and number one on the US Dance Club chart. Michel Gondry shot the video at Telecine Cell in London on a single 400-foot roll of film, using multiple exposure, with Björk singing the verses live. NME ranked the song 69th among the best of the 1990s, and Pitchfork put it second on its 2022 list of the top 200 tracks of the decade. Fans gave it the most votes when they chose the tracklist for Greatest Hits.
