Six Pack was written about original singer Keith Morris and mixes black humor with driving punk. Dez Cadena sang on the Six Pack EP, released on SST in June 1981 and produced by Geza X. It was Cadena's only non-compilation release as lead vocalist. The song also appears on Damaged.

Robert Christgau named it with Rise Above and TV Party as proof the band could write songs as well as gnash fragments. Trouser Press filed it among the goofy paeans to dissipated suburban life on Damaged. Rollins reported that the band's set lists in the 1984 and 1985 era rarely included older crowd favorites such as Six Pack or Nervous Breakdown.
