Lies

Chvrches posted Lies on the Neon Gold Records blog in May 2012, with a photograph of masked nuns instead of the band. It reached number one on The Hype Machine and was played on SoundCloud and BBC Radio 1. Doherty called the reaction unbelievable and way beyond what the band expected. By then they had recorded eight other songs in case listeners wanted more. Doherty said the demo made them realize they should learn to play it live. Fitzmaurice of Pitchfork wrote that on Lies Mayberry soars above the chorus's mountainous build. It was a single from The Bones of What You Believe, where it is the fifth track.
