Frank Sinatra, 1954

Label
Capitol
Producer
Voyle Gilmore

The seventh studio album of his career and the first for Capitol came out as an eight-song 10-inch LP. Nelson Riddle conducted, but George Siravo wrote the arrangements for every song except Like Someone in Love, which Riddle arranged. Sinatra had been using Siravo's charts in his nightclub appearances, and the studio musicians were surprised by their worn condition. He convinced Gilmore to record the charts he had performed at the Riviera and the Sands.

Riddle was influenced by Siravo's arrangements, and Siravo came to resent that Riddle received the credit. In 1962 the album was reissued as a 12-song 12-inch LP with four extra songs. In 2002 the Library of Congress chose it for the National Recording Registry.
