Supernature

Goldfrapp and Gregory began it in late 2004 in a small rented house in the countryside near Bath, jamming in the studio. Alison called the song sulky, sexual and a bit ambiguous. It was their first with electric guitar, an instrument they had avoided because of its overly recognizable rhythm. Gregory played keyboard bass while Alison sang, and her microphone picked up the clatter of his fingers on the keys. They kept that noise in the chorus, which Gregory said sounds like horses galloping. Adrian Utley played guitar and Charlie Jones bass.

It entered the UK chart at number four on 14 August 2005 and stayed 13 weeks. It reached number one in Spain and topped the US Dance Club chart. At the 2007 Grammys it was nominated for Best Dance Recording and lost to Justin Timberlake's SexyBack. Dawn Shadforth directed a video inspired by glam rock on 1970s television, which Alison said harked back to Eno-era Roxy Music and old Top of the Pops.
