Bill Leader recorded the album, which pairs original duets by Bert Jansch and John Renbourn with Charles Mingus's Goodbye Pork Pie Hat and Anne Briggs's The Time Has Come. Most tracks are credited to both guitarists, while Soho is credited to Jansch and Piano Tune to Renbourn.
The duet style the two developed from about 1963 became known as folk baroque. An expanded version appeared in America in 1969 on Vanguard as Stepping Stones, with It Don't Bother Me and My Lover added.
