Bill Leader produced and Nic Kinsey engineered. Renbourn sings, plays guitar and harmonica and makes heavy use of the sitar, and the record is mostly traditional material that he arranged, plus Robert Johnson's Come On in My Kitchen and Ian Campbell's Back on the Road Again.
Danny Thompson plays bass and Terry Cox drums on Shake Shake Mamma and the title track, which the four players, Thompson, Renbourn, Sue Draheim and Cox, are credited with writing. Draheim plays fiddle on Little Sadie, Willy O'Winsbury and Country Blues, Pete Dyer plays harmonica on two tracks, and Dorris Henderson sings on three. The Cuckoo was paired with Little Sadie as a single in 1972.
