Recorded over about two years with BJ Burton at April Base in Wisconsin and at The Terrarium in Minneapolis, the twelfth album was Steve Garrington's last with the band. Pitchfork's Rich Juzwiak, who scored it 8.7, wrote that Garrington sampled and contorted vocals, and that the title happened to match a remark Donald Trump made in July 2018. He added that Sparhawk had told The Wire that the Trump administration made him question humanity, logic and modern society. Maaika van der Linde plays bass flute on Always Up.

Parker sings lead on Dancing and Blood and Fly, and speaks on the instrumental The Son, the Sun. Metacritic scores it 86. The Guardian's Alexis Petridis wrote that it did not sound like anything else in Low's catalogue or beyond.
