The sixth album was recorded by Tom Herbers at Sacred Heart in Duluth and at Third Ear in Minneapolis, with Eric Swanson assisting. Tchad Blake mixed it at Realworld Studios in England and John Golden mastered it. Gerry Beckley is listed among the vocalists on La La La Song, and Parker sings lead on Tonight.
Pitchfork's Brad Haywood gave it 6.5 and thought the songs and Blake's production less engaging than on Things We Lost in the Fire. He did single out Canada as the nearest Low would come to a call-and-response anthem, and called Tonight and Point of Disgust beautiful returns to familiar ground.
