The eleventh album was co-produced by the band and BJ Burton at Justin Vernon's April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Burton recorded it with Zach Hanson, then mixed and mastered it. Glenn Kotche of Wilco contributes, and the cover art is by Peter Liversidge. A promotional video for No Comprende appeared on 23 June 2015, and the lyrics were nominated for an AML Award.
Pitchfork's Corbin Reiff scored it 7.8, called Gentle a funeral dirge, singled out the nearly ten-minute Landslide, and said Low had not sounded so lively since The Great Destroyer.
