The band played a set twice a day for a couple of weeks, never repeating a song within a set, and the best takes were kept. Young said this took the analysis out of it. Kurt Loder called it a monument to the spirit of the garage, and it topped the 1990 Pazz & Jop poll. Its longest songs, Love to Burn and Love and Only Love, run past ten minutes. A 2023 box in the Official Release Series remastered it from the analog tapes.
