Music for Animals

A piano-free set of long electronic pieces that runs past three hours.
Nils Frahm, 2022

Released
23 September 2022
Label
LEITER

Music for Animals was released on 23 September 2022 by Leiter Verlag. Pitchfork's Ted Davis noted that it has no piano, rests on a mostly electronic palette, and was Frahm's first collection of fresh material in four years. He began recording it in the first year of the pandemic.

Four of its ten pieces run past 20 minutes. Stepping Stone layers drones with glass harmonica played by his wife, Nina. Davis found it meditative but at over three hours somewhat indulgent. Metacritic gives it 72 from six reviews.
