The second single from Wish, released on 15 May 1992, reached number six in Britain, the band's last Top 10 there so far, and 18 on the US Hot 100, and it topped the Modern Rock chart for four weeks. David M. Allen and the Cure produced it. Smith feared that he had stolen the chord progression and phoned people to check. It was recorded in D major but released a quarter-tone sharp because the vari-speed had been left engaged, and the band play it live in the original key. Smith called it a very naive, happy type of pop song.

Tim Pope directed the video, an homage to Georges Melies, which won European Viewer's Choice at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. The song appears in 527 setlists on setlist.fm.

Speaking in 1993, Smith said the speed-up was an accident: he had been playing with the vari-speed and forgot to turn it off. The single came out on 15 May 1992, which was a Friday. All the songs on Wish are credited to the whole line-up, and the album also produced the singles High and A Letter to Elise.
