How Do You Sleep?
Nine bleak minutes that borrow a title from John Lennon's attack on Paul McCartney, and are widely heard as Murphy's own.

The centerpiece of American Dream begins as gothic, tribal drumming from Pat Mahoney and builds for five minutes before exploding into a dance track, with Murphy's voice stretched to breaking point. Gavilan Rayna Russom programmed the Roland Jupiter-4 at its core. Al Doyle described it as Dance Yrself Clean for the worst year ever. The title is John Lennon's 1971 song aimed at Paul McCartney, and most critics took the lyric as aimed at Tim Goldsworthy, Murphy's former partner at DFA, whom Murphy and the label had sued in 2013. Murphy has not confirmed it. The band first played it live at the Hollywood Bowl in May 2018.
