It was the first Union Station album with Dan Tyminski on guitar, alongside Ron Block, Barry Bales and Adam Steffey. Gary Paczosa recorded and mixed it, with sessions at Seventeen Grand Recording and several other studios, and Doug Sax mastered it. Michael McDonald wrote I Can Let Go Now and, with Viktor Krauss, Happiness. Mark Simos and Bob Lucas supplied several songs, Block wrote two, and Jeff White wrote one. Little Liza Jane is an instrumental, and It Doesn't Matter was used in the second-season premiere of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The album reached number 4 on the country albums chart and went gold. At the 1998 Grammys it won Best Bluegrass Album, Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for Looking in the Eyes of Love, and Best Country Instrumental Performance for Little Liza Jane. Country Standard Time called it "a beautiful, delicate recording".
